Launching Communities of PracticeCommunities of practice are one of the main building blocks of a Knowledge Management system, and many organizations will seek to create, launch and sustain a number of networks, as a pilot within Knowledge Management Implementation, or as a means to deliver value through Knowledge Management. Case StudyWe were employed by a second client to launch a series of Communities of Practice in 2008. Using our methodology, 6 communities were launched, with well defined focus areas, each of them delivering a case study of value delivered through best practice transfer. In 2010 we returned to the client to launch 4 more communities. By the end of March, the 10 combined communities had identified and documented 24 case studies of value delivery. Certain topics and knowledge areas are crucial to the successful, profitable operation of your business. We will help you choose the most suitable topics, and establish knowledge-sharing networks throughout your business, giving these communities a quick-start introduction to the tools and processes they need, to eliminate barriers to the free flow of knowledge. Using a proven methodology, we will facilitate a two-day launch agenda for your community, to help them develop their charter, identify their focus areas, agree their roles and behaviors, and build the culture and behaviors needed for success. |
