Peer AssistA Peer Assist is a process for bringing knowledge into a project, or piece of work, at the outset. It is a meeting, where a project team invite a number of people with relevant knowledge and experience, which they bring to bear on the issues of the project. They apply out-of-team knowledge to the team's context. Case StudyThe client was based in North America and wished to establish a presence in Europe and quickly become the dominant player in that market. While it had extensive experience of the North American market it had essentially zero experience of the European market. They created a strategy and implementation plan of how the would approach the European market including such diverse topics as how to work with the regulators, standards, marketing and local supply. Knoco were invited to designed and run a peer assist to bring in local European knowledge and improve on their plans and accelerate their progress in becoming market leaders in Europe. It is one of the easiest and most effective ways of bringing knowledge to the point of need. The Peer Assist involves two teams
A Peer Assist meeting may take anything from a few hours to a few days, depending on the scale of the project. It should have clear objectives and deliverables (such as producing a ranked listing of risks and options, or cutting 20% off the project cost, or something similar), it needs to be held at the correct time, and involve the correct group of people. If it is your first Peer Assist, or an important Peer Assist, it needs careful experienced facilitation. We will work with you, and with selected teams within your company, to access and import the knowledge they need, and apply it to their own project in their own context. The team will then start from a position of full knowledge, thus eliminating mistakes, repeating successes and cutting down the learning curve. |
